iTunes Review
After crafting the majestic Badmotorfinger, Soundgarden was more confident than ever that they could make the kind of album that almost anyone could enjoy without compromising their sound. Superunknown proves this point, with an exclamation point. It's Soundgarden's most inspired album, saturated with bristling tunes and electrifying performances that dramatically expand the band's artistic vision without ever sounding self- indulgent. Key tracks: "Black Hole Sun," "Fell on Black Days," and "Spoonman"

A percussion masterpiece!
Matt Cameron (now with Pearl Jam) turns in one of the best albums of rock'n'roll drums ever. 4/4 is out the window on this one, the timings and rhytms are extremely intricate and unique. The other impressive feature of Soundgarden is that guitarist Kim Thaiyl can play along with those tuff timings. Kim's style is choppy and and rythmic in it's own way and he was a catalyst for Matt Cameron to really cut loose on the drums. Put it together with Ben Shepard's moody tuned-down bass and the concoction is volitle, but melodic...All of that talent and they are fronted by vocalist Chris Cornell (now with Audioslave). Chris covers an unbeleivably impressive range, and his songwritting is in top form here. For you Audioslave fans, you must check this out if you haven't heard Chris with Soundgarden before. This is him in his prime before his voice started to fade. After listening to his blistering vocals on this album, you'll understand why his voice couldn't last forever. All of Songarden's music is powerfull, but this album is the most dynamic of any of their work. Pay special attention to the lyrics and the rythm. This album has as much drive as any I have ever heard. These guys aren't just some grunge band from Seattle, they are top notch musicians making very well thought out music. I highly recomend "Like Suicide", "Limo Wreck" "The Day I Tried To Live", and "Fourth of July".
An Absolute Masterwork
This album was truly ahead of its time. Soundgarden is one of the most underappreciated bands of all time simply because they were overshadowed by Smells like Teen Spirit. Yes, I say that because Nevermind itself as an album isn't on par with this. I'm a true Zepplin-er because I believe in album work. This is one of an extreme minority of albums where you can sit down and let the album roll, never having to skip a track. Every song screams with emotion and power. This is an absolute must have for anybody who ever liked rock & roll. This album will pay for itself after the first song. This may sound ridiculous, but in all honesty, Superunknown is worth far more than iTunes is selling it for.
Amazing!
This Album is my all-time favorite albums. The best parts of this album are the b-side songs that were not singles. Such as let me drown, head down, mailman, and the title track Superunknown. I love this album so much I own two copies! And after 11 years it still holds up and a Album that will stand the test of time. This is a complete album experience.
