Album Review
With "Love Fool," the Cardigans catapulted from a cult favorite to an international phenomenon. Instead of being happy with their success, they fretted about their artistic credibility, concerned that they were seen as merely a light pop band instead of an ironic pop band. This usually results in a self-conscious departure from form — and that is exactly what Gran Turismo, the follow-up to First Band on the Moon, is. There are still elements of the Cardigans' melodic style, but they have trimmed away their sense of humor and style, adding vague electronica experiments and mildly distorted guitars in their wake.

Amazing Album
A perfect experiment of the "post 90's" alternative movement of the decade. The songs represent The Cardigans at the peak of their career: the music is catchy and engaging, but also haunting and atmospheric. The album's menacing sense of emotion connects seemlessly from song to song. This album is is reminescent of Garbage's Version 2.0. If you like that cd, you will love this one.
By far the best Cardigans album
The thing I love most about the Cardigans sophomore release "Gran Turismo" is that following the bands first major release "First Band on the Moon" most people worldwide were expecting something more overtly-poppy and direct from the Cardigans the second time around, as most people's first thought of the band at that point was Nina Pearsson eloquently singing pop-hooks about love. However, the Cardigans simply had too much substance as a band and had been through too much to be satisfied with there now initial image. "Gran Turismo" is a masterpiece of an album with a much different feel than FBOTM, with Pearsson and the band at there creative song-writing zenith. Much of the album has to do with Pearsson's failed relationship with one of her fellow band members, which is evident on almost all tracks, especially the groups first single "My Favourite Game". "Gran Turismo" is a brilliant effort from a band that had the courage to make an album that may have been out of the band's and some of there fans comfort zone, but after one listen, anyone familiar with the band will find this record just simply too well thought out and presented to pass up...
Still worth the time
This is not ordinary music. It is somewhere between the three points of adult contemporary, electronica and alternative. But it works - if you'll let it. Don't resist it but also do not force it. This one has to come to you.
