iTunes Review

Loaded was the fourth and final Velvet Underground album featuring Lou Reed (a fifth VU album, recorded between the self-titled third album and this one, was issued in the ‘80s as VU and Another View). As Reed’s swan song, it features some of his finest, yet most conventional, material: “Who Loves the Sun” is practically AM radio pop. “Sweet Jane” and “Rock and Roll,” both presented here, as is “New Age,” in unedited form, are simple, straightforward rock tunes, natural radio-ready fare. From a band that had built its reputation on an unusual, even confrontational, sound, it’s quite a surprise — and welcomed, since the band plays flawlessly and the songs are among the finest of Reed’s career. This “Fully Loaded” version includes the original album in addition to a generous helping of alternate takes, mixes and demos that recreate the entire album and throw together other rarities from the period that Reed used to fuel the early portion of his solo career a few years later. Highlights include an interesting attempt at “I Found a Reason,” an eerie take and demo of “Ocean,” and early attempts at Reed solo tracks, including “Sad Song” (which appeared on Berlin) and “Satellite of Love” (a stand-out on Transformer.

Sweet Jane

This Is Wonderful Package Of Velvet Underground's 4th album Loaded. This album was supposed to be ''loaded'' with hits as their record company tried to make it, So there is a comercial sound to it, But it is a impressive record with some superb songs like ''Sweet Jane'', ''Rock And Roll'', ''New Age'', ''Oh Sweet nuthin''. Even Better are the demos alternitves and early versons of songs and other unused songs. This isnt their best record, but it is still a very fine record in the legend of Velvet Undergound.

An amazing album

In my opinion, some of these songs excede those on mainstream VU albums, such as "Oh! Sweet Nuthin'" and "Ocean". Definitely recommended to any velvet-ophile

not worth the money

it seems like there are many songs on this album, but it is actually different versions of the same songs. it is much better off if you buy the velvet underground and nico album.

Biography

Formed: 1964 in New York, NY

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '60s, '70s, '90s

Few rock groups can claim to have broken so much new territory, and maintain such consistent brilliance on record, as the Velvet Underground during their brief lifespan. It was the group's lot to be ahead of, or at least out of step with, their time. The mid- to late '60s was an era of explosive growth and experimentation in rock, but the Velvets' innovations — which blended the energy of rock with the sonic adventurism of the avant-garde, and introduced a new degree of social realism and sexual...
