Album Review
The Bravery's self-titled debut is a slick twist on '80s new wave and post-millennium modern rock. Those who've followed the Killers, stellastarr*, and the like will surely pounce on the Bravery's luscious synth-driven pop. The 11-song set, produced by the band's frontman, Sam Endicott, is playful and confident, unlike the stressful production of the Killers' Hot Fuss. Sure, obvious influences (Duran Duran, the Smiths, the Cure) carry the weight of this album, but it's without haste. An overcast backdrop dresses the trashy hints of love and desire, and cocksure moments such as "Public Service Announcement" and "No Brakes" showcase the Bravery's swagger with style. Endicott goes from sounding like a Robert Smith copycat ("Tyrant") to a dirtier Julian Casablancas ("Out of Line") and maintains a focused, fashionable dance sound. "Unconditional" soars with a sly guitar/keyboard two-step while "An Honest Mistake" saunters like classic New Order with its dark-hued mechanical energy. The Bravery isn't sonically mind-blowing, but the new millennium new wave revival remains intriguing. This New York five-piece makes an interesting effort without it coming off contrived and dishonest. Get ready to shake your hips!

No Brakes on Listening to The Bravery
Ever so often an album comes along that breaks the "5 Star" scale. "The Bravery" has broken it wide open. From the upbeat "Public Service Announcement" to the creepy "Tyrant", The Bravery has resurrected New Wave with a hint of Post Punk. Sure it has been done before, but The Bravery do it with such style. Front man Sam Endicott croons the mic with attitude reminiscent of Elvis Presley. Endicott also wrote and produced the self titled album. After dancing to "An Honest Mistake", cruise into "No Brakes", the true hit of the album. And if it's Post Punk you seek, "Unconditional" delivers. With a "face like an iron fist", The Bravery is here to stay.
The Exellence of The Bravery was not an honest mistake
Wow! This band is by far my favorite recent band. Little did I know when my friend showed me their album they would not only become an obsession of mine but practialy a lifestyle. The Bravery's self titled album is a must have. Their three singles, Honest Mistake, Fearless and Unconditional, are no doubt amazing songs but the rest of the songs on the album are just as good. One of my personal favorite is 'Tyrant' which according to the speech the lead singer Sam Endicott gave at ACL (which was awesome!) is about his ex-girlfriend/ neighbor who he could hear through the wall with other guys. Not only is The Bravery's music awesome but they're some of the most good looking men in alternitive music. They all have a masculine and carming look to them that has me melting every time I look at them and trust me I look at them A LOT! I totally recomend their album and wish them the best in their career!
One of My New Favorites!!
This album is amazing! I originally planned on only buying the single "An Honest Mistake," but then decided to try the entire album instead after sampling some of the other songs. Now, the whole album is one of my favorites. Some other great tracks on this one are "Tyrant" (the vocals are really hot), "Swollen Summer" (all of the elements of the band were beautifully pieced together here), "Out of Line" (just a great song overall). This band is truly talented with an authentically, differentiating sound. BUY THIS ALBUM!!
