Corsicana Lemonade

Corsicana Lemonade

White Denim's fifth release expands the band's potent brew of art-punk, psych-rock, and restless, funk-laced jams. "At Night in Dreams" kicks things off with a burst of drums and a searing guitar riff. It's followed by the equally frenetic title track and the prog-rock burner "Limited by Stature." The manic pace eases briefly with the melodic "New Blue Feeling," contender with the infectious "Pretty Green" for the album's most memorable track. And lest they get typecast, the band explores soulful Southern rock ("Come Back") and Texas twang ("Let it Feel Good") before launching into the psych stratosphere with "Cheer Up/Blues Ending," featuring a soaring vocal by James Petralli. Unexpectedly, the album closes on a mellow note with a fluid, jazz-speckled groove. A remarkably tight band, White Denim dodge and weave throughout Corsicana Lemonade to deliver their most well-rounded album to date.
