young Lee Trip'd me up a bit . . .
This was a tough one for me. All of the production is phat. Lyrical content in abundance. The guest appearances are excellent. The quality of this particular album is top notch - so why would I teeter between high 3 and low 4? I had a very hard time listening to Trip do his thing for this many songs. To be fair - I listened to the album in it's entirety while on a road trip . . . a lot of it sounded the same to me. There were times when I wondered if I had songs on repeat. His flow (while welcome in it's gritty delivery) became familiar far too quickly. Hard pressed to find spots where any diversity was displayed - he still brought what we all need: namely uncut truth. If you know about Reach Records - you know that this youngster is surrounded by the right folks. I would encourage Trip to take in the experience of his first offering, peoples responses - the good and the bad - and be just as open to excel in his craft as I'm sure he will in Christ. Biblically relevant to the core and the culture - I can't wait until Trip's next offering. All of that considered - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this album to the right people. It is an overall niche collection of songs - in it's proper context to the listener, it should be well received. No doubt worth the dough.
Too bad the world can't accept "JC"...
This man represented Him the right way. Keep doing the works, they might not feel you now, but every tounge will confess one day. Great album.
Great Album
This a very good album. The lyrical content is great, the quality is there, it has great beats. Its really hard to find christian rappers that sound as good as Trip Lee does. Overall this is a great effort by Trip Lee and Reach Records, and I cant wait until his second album comes out.
