iTunes Review

The Cribs display a greater discipline and focus on Ignore the Ignorant, tempering their rough-hewn attack with strategic refinements. The obvious new element here is the presence of guitarist Johnny Marr, whose primal riffage for the Smiths continues to be a key influence on modern rock. Marr’s gritty yet cogent playing fits the Cribs’ serrated melodies quite comfortably, lending pop-laced tunes like “Hari Kari” and the album’s title number extra heft. As before, lead singer Ryan Jarman defines the band’s attitude with his aggrieved, slightly cheeky swagger and his vinegary vocal delivery gives the chronic discontent of “We Were Aborted,” “Cheat On Me” and “Victim of Mass Production” a streetwise authority. “Emasculate Me” and “Nothing” pick up the generally morose tempo of the album with bursts of early punk effervescence. Jarman releases his inner Iggy Pop on lounge-tinged tracks like “We Share the Same Skies” and “Stick to Yr Guns.” With Marr on board, the Cribs display a greater maturity while retaining the guttersnipe edge that made their earlier records so much fun.

Victim of Bad Production

I feel like this is a good album with good songs that is bogged down and made unenjoyable by crappy production. Something about the sound seems wierd, unfinished and sort of ugly. This is a shame because i love the Cribs and was looking forward to a new album full of good, punchy tunes. Instead this just leaves me feeling disappointed and unsatisfied. I feel that with better production these songs wouldn't sound so just ...off. Major bummer really

Just AMAZING!!!!

Wow, I was not expecting something this good. I had no idea how The Cribs would make a good enough follow up to "Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever" but this album definitely is up there and might even be better. My personal favorites are "We Were Aborted", "City of Bugs", "Ignore the Ignorant", and "Victim of Mass Production". The vocals are so great, (and quite unexpected) on "City of Bugs". I hope the Jarman brothers + Johnny Marr keep up the good work. P.S. They have to do an American tour ASAP!

Demands repeated listens

I jumped on The Cribs bandwagon with their last album, Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever. So I was hoping for a follow-up just like that one: Really poppy, fun, punky. Instead, Ignore The Ignorant is sort of dark and not as catchy. I was angry. I listened to it a couple more times. Total attitude change! It's complex, intelligent, and turns out to be just as poppy. Buy this!
