Album Review

Bon Jovi had perfected a formula for hard pop/rock by the time of New Jersey, concentrating on singalong choruses sung over and over again, frequently by a rough, extensively overdubbed chorus, producing an effect not unlike what these songs sounded like in the arenas and stadiums where they were most often heard. The lyrics had that typical pop twist — although they nominally expressed romantic commitment, sentiments such as "Lay Your Hands on Me" and "I'll Be There for You" worked equally well as a means for the band and its audience to reaffirm their affection for each other. The only thing that marred the perfection of this communion was Jon Bon Jovi's continuing obsession with a certain predecessor from his home state; at times, he seemed to be trying to recreate Born to Run using cheaper materials.

Dare to dream

by Natovox

This album means so much to me, so many good memories, these songs got me through so much in my life and also started the dream of a young Brazilian boy that one day he could learn how to play guitar, sing and come to the USA and play in a rock band!!! It dared me to dream
Thank you so much! u don't know the impact this songs had in who I am today

Better then Slippery!

by Macaroni and Michael J. Fan <3

Yeah, I think New Jersey is better then Slippery. While SWW has some catchy pop songs, and tons of classic Bon Jovi songs, this album shows that they weren't big-hair sellouts, and that they were here to stay. Born To Be My Baby and Bad Medicine alone are worth the entire album, but all of the songs are great! Buy it all, right now!! Go Bon Jovi!

Few bands embodied the era of pop-metal like Bon Jovi. By merging Def Leppard's loud but tuneful metal with Bruce Springsteen's working-class sensibilities, the New Jersey-based quintet developed an ingratiatingly melodic and professional variation of hard rock — one that appealed as much to teenagers...
