Very Solid Qunitet
I just saw this group in concert, and they are really outstanding. I especially loved the flute player's tone, and I don't even play flute. The recording of Ravel on this disc is very polished. I recommend this CD to anyone looking for a great sounding quintet, that plays a variety of different genres.
Love 'em!
I saw the Imani Winds at Spivey Hall in Morrow, GA, and they were AMAZING. The bassoon player had SOOO much attitude and spunk when she played, and I've never heard such an AMAZING horn player. The flute, oboe, and clarinet were all amazingly talented...I've never seen fingers move over keys that fast! :] Worth the buy!
My first introduction
I saw this group in Savannah, Ga. a couple of years ago in a church downtown, and they were outstanding. It was my first time seeing an African American woodwind group ever, and boy did they set the concert off in the right way. They played Umoja and it was lovely even without the percussion part.
