Album Review

By 1997, much of the pop music landscape had changed. The music papers were declaring the "Techno Revolution" was on, Oasis and Manic Street Preachers were ruling the charts, and simple dance-pop seemed to be the domain of teenage girls. So what does the dance-pop diva of the '90s do? She recruits Manic Street Preachers' James Dean Bradfield, Sean Moore, and Nicky Wire, starts writing unaided, and completely changes musical direction. Enter Kylie Minogue's Impossible Princess (the title was changed to Kylie Minogue after the death of Princess Diana). From the trippy cover art to the abundance of guitars and experimental vocal tracks, this was her "great leap forward." The move got her in the papers, but, unfortunately, critical acclaim was lacking. So were sales. Critics called it a mistake, and the public was less than impressed. Which is sad, because this is a pretty damn good record. Unlike her early work, this album sounds stronger and has a more natural feel. Her songwriting abilities have come a long way, and Impossible Princess, Rovi

A deeper Kylie.

Finally after years this album is available in the United States iTunes store. I had to buy this CD from a specialty import shop here in San Diego. It was a routine of mine to check iTunes US store to see if they were ever going to carry this CD, its been in the Aus. store for a long time. Now about the music, its really a deep and amazing fresh change for Kylie. I am so biased since I feel like Kylie is severely underrated especially here in the US. She brings such an effervescence to her pop offerings that I have enjoyed making me happy and dance for years, this album is more personal expression of her I believe. The style is a complicated electronic record that offers these exotic drum beats and enhanced synth vocals, I have enjoyed listening to this and if you are a Kylie fan because of Fever back in 2001 and then you realized she had a huge body of work and were equally impressed with X in 2008, Light years in 2000 and Body Language in 2004 you will appreciate the wait for Impossible Princess. Buy it, give a run through when your not busy and appreciate the dark intricateness of the effort and you will be as upset as I am that Kylie doesn't get more respect but I guess that just leaves her room only to go up. Thank you Kylie!

The US Needs More Kylie

I fell in love with Kylie's music a few years ago and have wondered why she hasn't had the popularity here like she does everywhere else. I hope Americans will take a chance and listen cause I'm sure you'll like what you here. If you don't know where to start, begin with her latest CD "X" its the most US friendly music she's ever made, this disc is overall one of her best and the remixes are awesome!!!

Good!

It's good that iTunes is making Kylie's album availble. But it's better if they add videos and singles of kylie..

On the one hand, pop musically speaking, worldbeaters such as Kylie Minogue are few and far between. Singers and performers of her stature and popularity rarely maintain their power for as long as she was able to. Her streaks of number one singles in both Australia and the U.K. are nearly insurmountable. And yet, on the other hand, her inability to really crack open the American pop market over the course of her career is a story that is heard all too often from groups hailing from nations as pop...
