Album Review

Sanctuary's 2002 release In Concert: Merchants of Cool captures a latter-day lineup of Bad Company fronted by Paul Rodgers running through their big hits circa 2001 (the album is culled from dates at the Paramount Theatre in Denver and the Grove of Anaheim, but no specific dates are mentioned). The performances are sturdy, solid, and, at times, even a little spirited; though this couldn't be mistaken for the band at their peak in the mid-'70s, it will certainly entertain those who have stuck with them ever since then. In addition the concert tracks, there are two new studio tracks that are the equal of the live cuts.

The one and only available Bad Company live album

by The Working Man

This is a real good album and until the "Live at the Hard Rock" live album is released in summer 2009 this it the only live album from Bad Company with Paul Rodgers on vocals. Please, note this album includes only Rodgers (vocals, piano) and Simon Kirke (drums) from the original Bad Company lineup. "Live at the Hard Rock" will also include original guitarist Mick Ralphs in addition to Rodgers and Kirke with only the late Boz Burrell missing. All in all, this is a very good cd with a pretty much complete representation of Bad Company essentials. Note to the iTunes folks the last two songs are not live, Joe Fabulous and Saving Grace (a Neil Schon song written for and first recorded by Paul Rodgers on a solo album) are both studio tracks. Also, at this writing it looks like "Burning Sky" is going to soon be available on iTunes and hopefully the rest of the bands albums will follow.
