Johannsson does it again

I hope people aren't put off by the fact that this is a soundtrack, as it is a beautiful work that can stand alone. This soundtrack wonderfully combines many seemingly disparate elements/feelings like coldness and warmth, despair and hope. The last track is especially gorgeous. I really think that Johannsson is making some of the best music today and this album can attest to that!

Varmints

This is a random title etc without a little background... this was made for a short film called Varmints by Marc Craste among many involved with the project. Its an awesome 24 minute film using every single on these songs pretty much. It's only 1.99 to buy the film through the iTunes Store.

Only 4 stars becuase if you buy both versions of "Fordlandia" alone its killer without any graphics. This album played along to the movie it was made for deserves 5 stars but not by itself.

Composer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Jóhann Jóhannsson is one of Iceland's most prolifically creative musicians, as a solo artist as well as a part of the Kitchen Motors label and collective (which also includes members of Sigur Rós, Múm, and Slowblow) and also Apparat Organ Quartet. Kitchen Motors' aesthetic, which focuses on largely improvised and electronic music, also applies to his other projects. Apparat Organ Quartet, with music described as "machine rock & roll," consist of four keyboardists...
