Highly Recommended

I just purchased this album, have just listened to all of the songs, and am completely happy that I did. I was a little worried that this album would be a lot of unfinished or instrumental songs, but it is quite the opposite. Each song is fleshed out and realized. And she (I forgot her name at the moment, sorry!) sings in every track. It was nice to hear her spread her wings vocally, I hear much more depth in this album than in Things You Should Leave Alone. If you've heard their other album and are curious if this one is as good, the answer is yes, I think this one is better. Their style has developed, but the essential, unique flavor is still there. In this album, some of the songs had violins (or some other stringed instrument, I don't know a whole lot about them) in them, and it added a really nice exotic flavor to them. It was very nice. I would definitely recommend purchasing the entire album, but if you're only getting a couple of songs, I'd recommend Sand, Dogs, and Shouldn't Be Here. All of them are good, though. If you like Emiliana Torrini or bands usually put into the adult alternative genre, then you will probably enjoy this band. Even if you don't, give it a try anyway. :)

Excellent album. Not a dud in this collection!!!

I was totally unaware that Puracane had put out another album. I just noticed it a couple of days ago...listened to a couple of tracks and knew I had to buy it. It has kind of a trip-hop feel and I love other artists in this style (Sneaker Pimps, Portishead, etc.). Its simply a great album by a group I wish had put out more than a couple of albums in the last 7 years. Definitely recommended and this is the first recommendation I have posted on Itunes (thats how much I liked it).

Fake Plastic Trees

I did a search for Fake Plastic Trees to see if anyone had the nerve to cover it. And I have to say I have become a HUGE Puracane fan after listening to their version. It's amazing and does it total justice... the additional vocals and all the atmospheric landscapes are beautiful!!!

Biography

Formed: 1999

Genre: Electronic

Years Active: '90s, '00s

Puracane originally began as a collaboration between the duo Ali Rogers (vocals) and David Biegel (programmer/producer) in 1999. They released their debut album, Things You Should Leave Alone, on acid jazz imprint Ubiquity in 2000. Later that year, Rogers decided to put Puracane through the transition of being simply a studio project to a live band and the group toured with several A-list entertainers (Sting, Jane's Addiction, Depeche Mode) for the next several years. In 2006, the group self-released...
