The Hallmark Cd Goes Commercial
by a song 4uI'm so glad this cd initially recorded for Hallmark cards is getting it's commercial release. I already purchased this cd in '07 when it first came out, the only track I don't have is "Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeeer" which from my understanding is an outtake from the original sessions. There are a few repeats from Barry's two previous holiday albums but the versions here are re-recordings in the swing vein. In true Barry fashion, "Silver Bells" is recorded in four-block harmony with Barry doing all the vocals. As exausting as the technique is I'd love to hear either a longer arrangement or an entire album of just the overdubbing; an album will take a good ten years but I'm sure it would be worth the wait. Overall? Excellent.
It's a Swinging CD!
by PKGuy323Upon first look of the track list, the other bonus track is missing - "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear." That track was pre-preleased for this CD and it's missing here. The net bonus track for me is "Rudolph" since I already have "The Cranberry's" track that was released last year as a stand-alone single.
This is a pleasant CD...it's obvious Manilow enjoyed making and singing/swinging these tunes. It's nice background music while you work or decorating for the holidays. Out of Manilow's 3 Christmas CD's, "The Gift of Love" is my preferred all-around listen-to. Check it out!
