The Hallmark Cd Goes Commercial
I'm so glad this cd initially recorded for Hallmark cards is getting it's commercial release. I already purchased this cd in '07 when it first came out, the only track I don't have is "Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeeer" which from my understanding is an outtake from the original sessions. There are a few repeats from Barry's two previous holiday albums but the versions here are re-recordings in the swing vein. In true Barry fashion, "Silver Bells" is recorded in four-block harmony with Barry doing all the vocals. As exausting as the technique is I'd love to hear either a longer arrangement or an entire album of just the overdubbing; an album will take a good ten years but I'm sure it would be worth the wait. Overall? Excellent.

This is the by far the best release from Manilow since his critically acclaimed "Here at the Mayflower" cd. His collaboration with the MaD Fusion trio was truly inspired, giving us an inventive take on holiday classics.
