iTunes Review

On 2008’s In the Making, Nevertheless turn away from hyperactive power-pop to claim the mantle of sensitive Christian balladeers. The Chattanooga quintet’s second album is noticeably skewed towards serious examinations of spiritual hunger and romantic longing. To be sure the bopping, piano-driven “Sleeping In” and the jumpy, guitar-centered “Longshot” show that the band hasn’t lost its fizz. Overall, though, In the Making is dominated by slower numbers with a slightly melancholy cast. Singer Joshua Pearson is subdued but emotive, rising from breathless lows in “Cross My Heart” to falsetto heights in “I Needed This.” “It’s True,” “I Found My Way Back Again,” and “It’s No Secret” reaffirm the band’s rock-solid faith. The tunes about girls — “Augustine,” “Longshot,” “When I’m Alone” — are sensitive or overly moist, depending upon one’s taste. Kudos for best track goes to “Topics,” an empathetic look at hidden shame. In the Making is made for contemplative afternoons rather than all-night rock bashes.

In The Making... of one of the best albums of the year...

The boys from Tenessee are back with "In The Making", their sophmore album and much anticipated in the Christian Pop/Rock category. Nevertheless definetly stepped it up and grown musically from "Live Like We're Alive" (which was also a great album). In The Making has more grit, edge and emotion, being compared to Relient K, Switchfoot and Hawk Nelson. WIth that in mind, they have the potential to leave an impact on both the Christian and Mainstream music. Sleeping In - 5/5 - Best track on the album, a must have It's True - 4/5 - Emotional track with strings, Josh(lead singer) stretches his voice, Cross My Heart - 5/5 - This could be their next single, Awesome rock song It's No Secret - 4.5/5 - Acoustic guitar sound with amazing praise lyrics Rest - 4.5/5 - Slow song-piano, with deep-felt lyrics, Josh does another amazing job here I Needed This - 4/5 - Josh's falcetto is amazing here, a great rock song Longshot - 3.5/5 - Very catchy song, Augustine - 3/5 - Acoustic guitar song, inspired by St. Augustine Topics - 3.5/5 - Piano song, The growth of lyric writing shines here When I'm Alone - 5/5 - A song about being still, being in love and being yourself, 'when the room clears, i'm still here, who am i when i'm alone' I Found My Way Back Again - 4.5/5 - A perfect way to end the album, that no matter how far you are, God will find you back where you are... Other notes, shop around for this album for promotionals and autograph editions online, but for singles, itunes is great. They are on tour with fireflight and not stopping their, so check'em out in your area! Thanks for the read and God Bless!
