stunning!
this album is absolutely amazing! i've been a big U2 fan forever so it's great to hear cool electronic versions of my favorite songs with so many amazing female vocalists. some of these tracks are dance/ rockers while others slip into downtempo grooves. really sweet. highly recommended!
Beautiful synthesis of rock and electronica!
Although tribute albums can be a tricky business, "In the Shadow of U2" definitely pulls it off beautifully. First of all, the materia prima is pretty rock solid: timeless U2 classics. Then the electronic mastery of Electron Love Theory switches it up with great results. Their renditions allow you to listen to these old classics with a new ear and a new brain (no matter how many 1000s of times you've heard them before), bringing to the fore textures and nuances, which were only potential in their original recordings. I really like ELT's versions of these songs, and the beautiful female vocals add another nice twist. Over all, I'd definitely recommend this album to U2 and electronica fans, alike.
I'm a Big Fan of Electron Love Theory!!!
I've heard Electron Love Theory on internet radio and love their combination of live beats and exotigroove melodies. The early recordings with voice over electronica are amazing. The follow up disk with the electro-pop vibe (plus the addition of a female singer) blew me away, with the same top notch melodies and insightful lyrics. This latest offering of U2 songs doesn't disappoint. It's smooth, groovy and rockin', in addition to featuring some fantastic female vocals. This is a critical addition to the exhaustive library of every U2 fan, or anyone who enjoys electronic music. I've heard that Electon's mastermind is agoraphobic. I'd like to know if this is the reason they haven't toured for many years. I hope to see them on the road soon!
