Album Review
Between 1988 and 2010, composer Hanz Zimmer has had a hand in nearly every major action film, whether it’s him behind the keys or one of his numerous, Remote Control Productions (formerly known as Media Ventures) protégés like John Powell, Harry Gregson-Williams, or Klaus Badelt. His excellent work on director Christopher Nolan’s 2008 international blockbuster The Dark Knight, was disqualified for Oscar consideration due to too many cooks (composers) in the kitchen, a handicap that doesn’t apply to Nolan’s 2010 follow-up, Inception. Zimmer’s signature move, a four- to eight-chord round that builds from a subtle breeze to an F5 tornado, serves as the foundation for Inception’s dizzying score, and the addition of Smiths/Cribs guitarist Johnny Marr, who appears on eight of the twelve cuts, dutifully expands the layers of Zimmer’s melodies, much like the dream building that occurs onscreen. There are moments that bring to mind Vangelis' moody, jazz-kissed work on Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, but Inception's backbone is pure Zimmer. It’s beautiful and heroic, unhinged and unspeakably melancholy, and the finest and most fully realized soundtrack this prolific composer has crafted to date.

Hans Zimmer delivers yet another masterpiece!
The "Inception" soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal. Luckily, I was able to attend a pre-screening of "Inception" last night, and let me be the first to tell you, the score is like a character in itself. It's powerfully loud, yet also incredibly beautiful. Not only does it keep you vastly intruiged throughout the film, but it also lends to the depth of the narrative. I wouldn't call it Zimmer's best work, but it's definitely up there. Johnny Marr lends his talents with his energetic and raw sounding electric guitar sounds to contrast Zimmer's pounding synths.
My favorites are "Time", "Mombasa", "Old Souls", "528491", and "One Simple Idea"

My mind is blown.
Hans Zimmer is LEGENDARY. Period. While there are other composers I enjoy listening to, Hans Zimmer performs on a greater scale and his magnitude is incredible. I greatly anticipated the release of this score and it definitely lived up to my hype. I kept checking when I could actually buy it, since iTunes sometimes releases albums the day before...and when I checked at 11:41 PM, I was finally able to purchase! I love this album because it is different and so fricken' good!!!!!!! It's unlike anything I have ever heard. I don't know what exactly Hans did/ not sure what instruments and technology were used to create this music, but it is unique and amazing. Filled with action and emotion and great motifs...especially those loud sounds that you hear at the end of each trailer; it's almost like they are living within the score.
MY TOP 3:
1. "Mombasa" - Don't even preview the track, just buy it! You will love the whole thing. I promise yout that. LEGENDARY!
2. "528491" - Just pure awesomeness. Some it is from the trailer, but it is slightly different and great!
3. "Dream is Collapsing" - A profound song. Really creates the tone for the score.
You will not regret purchasing the three above songs. The entire album is fantastic and an exhilarating joy to listen to. I greatly anticipate 11:59 PM Thursday night to see Inception in theaters and see how the score works with the film.
Hans Zimmer's Dream is Real!
Hans Zimmer teams up once again with Christopher Nolan to deliver a gripping masterpiece that takes film composing to a whole new level. The soundtrack perfectly complements Nolan's complex, mind-blowing movie. The recurring, beautiful theme of Inception (Time) is arguably one of the best film theme's of all time, for Time is bound to resonate among all audiences. The immense power and intensity of songs, like Dream is Collapsing and Dream Within a Dream, give listeners chills. Johnny Marr makes an impressive contribution with his impeccable guitar playing. Marr adds a western touch to Zimmer's modern orchestral arrangements. At a signing event for Inception, Zimmer personally told me that he was inspired by mathematicians Roger Penrose and Douglas Hofstadter. This is clearly evident, given the brilliant complexity and logic of Inception's score. Zimmer reminds us why he is the best in the business with this epic score. Hans Zimmer should undoubtedly win an Oscar for his masterful work on Inception.
