Another Amazing Album
Another terrific album from one of the best bands around today. The Speechwriters have matured stylistically and lyrically while still keeping all the elements that made me fall in love with them in the first place! Personal favorites are Hanoi, Santa Monica, and Southern California. That being said, new Speechies songs are like puppies, you love them at first for their silky smoothness and emotional company, but eventually it reaches a deeper level entirely. If you already like the Speechwriters, you won't be dissapointed. If you don't already know the Speechwriters, you are in for a treat! I honestly can't recommend this band highly enough, give them more than a quick listen.
SWLLC Does it Again
While at first I was slightly skeptical of this new album, I decided to give it time to grow on me a little. And grow on me it did. I realized that there were so many complexities missed by the first few listens, and now I am addicted to the album. Way to go Speechwriters! Hanoi- good matching of lyrics and music 8/10 Seattle- not my favorite on the album, but that edgy swllc feel 7/10 Anacortes- I like that deep guitar boom 8/10 Southeast Asia- my second favorite, i like the major chords, love the lyrics 9.5/10 Culver City- electric is a good accent for their music 8/10 Santa Monica- chorus is WAY catchy 8.5/10 Southern California- this might be my favorite swllc song. second maybe to blood on the frets or annie dan, but so so so good. 10/10 Tay Ho- silly but fun, nice guitar 8/10 Overall, a great album, worthy of continuous sustained listening.
The Speechwriters LLC
This is how music should be. Pure, lyrical, and heartfelt, like all of their music, easy to listen to, hard not to enjoy. Plus - listen to their lyrics. Music to the Speechwriters is an art form, unlike most of what we hear today. It's like poetry. Recommended to anyone with a soul. =)
