Beautiful and Amazing

by toddcf

Simply put, one of the most amazing albums I've ever heard in my life. I like it more and more each time I listen to it. I first heard "Parks on Fire" on Hybrid's Soundsystem 01 mix CD (which is a symphony in and of itself), and realized that this one track was still playing in my head long after I was done listening to the mix. I checked out their album, and I'm so glad I did! It is an even greater pleasure on a nice stereo or good set of headphones, where the deep, textured bass backdrops the crystal clear highs perfectly. So intricate, and nicely done. I love it!

Really well done...

Great songwriting and production.

Seriously Wonderful Album - Genius and Soul in Equal Parts

by zem_the_mattress

I first heard Trifonic on Hybrid's Soundsystem01 compilation where 'Parks on Fire' was the standout track on Disc 1, - outshining tracks by established artists like Massive Attack and Spooky. The genius of Trifonic is being able to do thick, lush, but minimal all at the same time; as well as incorporating that whole 'cinematic tension' idea, usually the milieu of Hybrid - who are assisted by symphony orchestras, not to mention actual film score composers. The artist comparisons to be made here are many - texture like Photek, production quality like Hybrid, tempo and drama like Massive Attack (circa Mezzanine), breaks like SebastiAn, vocals like (just to mention somebody new) Kate Bush, or Elizabeth Fraser. None of this matters anyhow, what matters is it sounds f-ing amazing! Thick basslines, wonderful melodies, great vocals. Equally great for thinking, or romancing (or thinking about romancing). My roomate even does his workout to Emergence. Pretty much all the tracks are great, I like 'Vacuum Tree','Lies', and the 'Terminal' tracks slightly less than the others. Emergence is a wayy excellent album, and I'm putting a pretty good bet on Classic status, though time will tell. Please buy this, and tell all your friends to buy it too. Trifonic is definitely an outfit that needs supporting!
