iTunes Review

One of the most consistently rewarding filmmaking collaborations in recent years has been the work of New Orleans trumpeter/composer/recording artist Terence Blanchard in service of director Spike Lee, a rich body of work that ranges from Mo' Better Blues and Malcolm X to Bamboozled and 25th Hour. Lee's intentions here are more typical of a Hollywood thriller (the story centers on an introspective bank robber and his perfect-crime gone wrong) and Blanchard dutifully delivers the stem-winding suspense and action-cue payoffs required by the genre. But more important is the overall atmosphere the composer provides, a hip, elegantly cool tapestry that keys off the infectious "Chaiyya Chaiyya Bollywood Joint" theme (a hip-hop suffused remix of Bollywood musical kingpin A.R. Rahman) to encompass Blanchard's shrewd Copland-esque symphonic tastes and penchant for restless invention.

Chaiyya Chaiyya Single, Please!

Seems to be the general consensus, but I'd like to lobby for the release of Chaiyya Chaiyya as a single. None of the other music in the movie struck me as this song did. I'll be waiting for it.

Chaiyya Chaiyya as Single

The album itself is very good in the context of the movie, but once outside of the action of the theater the soundtrack is just ok. However, the Chaiyya Chaiyya Bollywood joint is an amazing song, and iTunes I am sure would make a lot more money if it would release it as a single. I feel as if they are trying to screw us over by having us buy a mediocre album for the one great song. Hopefully if enough people write, Apple will actually sell to their customers and give them what they want. Listen to the people who are making this the amazing site what it is. Customers are finicky and won't always afford you the monopoly you have on the digital music industry if you don't give them what they want. Please consider.

chaiyya chaiyya!!!!

I really wish i could simply purchase the last track (chaiyya chaiyya) by itself. I am generally not a classical music fan so the entire album does not interest me, but that song is great, and I would love to buy it if it were offerred on its own.
