Album Review
Despite their solid pre-grunge pedigree, Seattle's Gruntruck are probably doomed to be remembered as a "poor man's Soundgarden." In fact, many songs (especially the title track) on their 1991 debut, Inside Yours would fit right in on any of that band's first few albums. Still, lack of originality hardly spells bad songwriting, and singer Ben McMillan offers a few nuggets with "Crucifunkin'," "Paint," and the groove-heavy "Not a Lot to Save."
Customer Reviews
awsome
whoever wrote the review has no idea of music or anything for that matter. Formed from the members of skin yard, gruntruck resembles soundgarden in no way, shape, or form. this is much simpler form of rock with thick heavy riffs that fill most of the song. Whoever wrote that review is just so dead wrong its not even funny.
Gruntruck rocks. Period.
The word "Grunge" be damned. This is great rock and roll, primal, grooving and riff-loaded. Skinyard's disbanding allowed Ben to step up his game and this first release from his new band is a gem. Gruntruck just lays it down and Ben's voice is filled with tension, sex and bitterness and I'm happy to find it on iTunes as my cassette wore out back in 1994.
Good Album!
Kudos to itunes for finally getting this on here. i remember not a lot to save on 120 minutes & i got the tape & have since love these guys. still think they were grunge for that time but def. more alternative rock than grunge, but hell if you came out of the northeast in the late 80's-early 90's that's what they labled you.i've since found this cd used & copped it, it's still great to see it on here. Every song is good, a lost art form in music today where you can put a cd in & listen to the whole thing straight through.
