Album Review

Fugazi finally released a career retrospective after more than a decade together, though in true indie fashion, Instrument is far from your average band's greatest-hits collection. In truth, it's the soundtrack to a documentary produced by the band with filmmaker Jem Cohen. While the film contains footage from live dates, studio work, and intimate home-movie tapes, the soundtrack itself focuses on unreleased studio tracks and outtakes with never-before-heard songs, including "I'm So Tired," "Swingset," "Slo Crostick," and "Turkish Disco."

Customer Reviews

It's Fugazi...what else do you want?

it's Fugazi, do you expect anything less? This is not the album to introduce Fugazi to your friends but the hardcore fan should get it. Go see the movie too. It's great.

Great

You definitely need to know Fugazi to buy this album. I always overlooked buying this album, I heard it and got bored. But then I bought the DVD of the movie and it was incredible. Definitely a must for a Fugazi fan.

If history is kind to Fugazi, their records won't be overshadowed by their reputation and methods of operation. Instead of being known for their community activism, five-dollar shows, ten-dollar CDs, resistance to mainstream outlets, and the laughably fictitious folklore surrounding their lifestyle, they will instead be identified as setting a high bar for artistic excellence that is frequently aimed for but seldom achieved with great frequency. During their existence, the four-piece created some...
