iTunes Review
Listening to the 2009 remix of Bloc Party’s third studio album Intimacy, it becomes pretty evident the band recorded the 2008 album with the intention of leaving some room for a handful of their best DJ and producer friends to deconstruct the songs and reassemble them with dance floor magic. The party starts with a facelifted “Ares” that’s vastly different from the album cut — the Villains remix smoothes over the angularity of the original with driving beats, distorted tones and a bombastic bass. The Mogwai remix of “Biko” infuses layered guitar lines and atmospheric flutters of synth notes that play soothingly before allocated bursts of drum machines come in to recall the drum ‘n’ bass craze of the late-20th century. The John B Remix of “Trojan Horse” explodes with throbbing blips and beats to inadvertently approximate a battle between two old school video games, but it’s the Armand Van Helden remix of “Signs” that stands out like an arm wrestling match between Daft Punk and Justice with its wonky tones, electropunk abrasiveness and some kind of magical effect that makes the vocals sound submerged in the waters of Atlantis.

Fancy Business
This is a solid compilation, especially if you're already a fan of le Bloc. Honestly, I enjoy it more than the orignal album. Certain tracks, such as Signs and Biko, have a greater sense of rawness to them - not as clean cut/predictable as the orignal versions. I reccomend buying the album in its entirety.
Amazing Remix Album
I am quite a big fan of Bloc Party so its difficult for me not to like anything they put out and this is no exception. I'll be honest and say that I understand why some people may not like this album compared to Silent Alarm Remixed due to the fact that Intimacy in it self already sounds like a remixed Bloc Party album. Sure some songs have lost their original appeal by being remixed but those are just a few. Ion Square was one of, if not the best songs from Intimacy and on here it losses what made it so great. Signs also works better in its original format. I'd recommend the Signs (MMMatthias Remix) for everyone instead. Beyond those two I have nothing but great things to say. Biko is one of my other personal favorites and I think the Mogwai remix further enhances the melancholy that was great in the original. Out of all the songs I'd definitely recommend Biko (Mogwai Remix). Other personal favorites include Halo (We Have Band Dub), Trojan Horse (John B Remix), and Letter to My Son (Gold Panda Remix). These are all excellent and I feel like one of the reasons Intimacy Remixed is so great is because this time around Bloc Party really combined techno with their songs. No where is this more evident than on Trojan Horse. Unlike Silent Alarm Remixed, Intimacy Remixed truely sounds like a techno/rock album and in my mind it works perfectly minus a couple of songs. Great album by a great band.
Awesome CD!
If you're a fan of Bloc Party this CD is a MUST have!
