Ultimatum - Into The Pit
Simply put, the masters of thrash metal are back! INTO THE PIT qualifies as the juggernaut of North American metal. This is great news for fans, since this is the first new offering from Ultimatum in 6 long years! With INTO THE PIT, the band has unleashed one of thrash metal's most shining moments, following the footsteps of Exodus, Tourniquet, Vengeance Rising, Megadeth, Overkill and Forbidden. With its thundering bass, fast drumming and a wealth of Mastodonian riffery, the boys have clearly learned from their elders and learned well. Guitarist, Robert Gutierrez, fills every track with fiery, blowtorch riffs and scorching solos. Vocalist, Scott Waters, far exceeds his previous efforts, sounding every bit as brilliant as thrash legend, Roger Martinez (Vengeance Rising), while never forsaking his classic Ultimatum vocal style. It's rare to find a band able to progress and mature in their craft so much without changing their sound. If you like your metal fast, heavy, neck snapping, bone crunching and totally old-school then INTO THE PIT is your "stranded on a deserted island" disc.

This is just a REDICULOUSLY SICK album. The whole thing is thick with unreal shredding and crushing rhythms. Song architecture is simply the best there is. One minute your cruising with the top down, the next, YOUR FACE IS MELTING OFF on the re-entry! There is no other current band that can match the technical shredding of Gutierrez nor the relentless and consistent deathy vocals of Waters. Heart of Metal has this stupid-fast riff during the chorus that may prevent exhaling. The drums are punishing and clean throughout. This is just what thrash metal should be, intense, gut wrenching and crunchy. Hmmm, they aught to make an Ultimatum candy bar.
This is an old school thrash masterpiece!
This is Ultimatum's best album hands down! Anyone who is looking for some old school thrash metal full of killer riffs should give this a shot.
