Album Review

A much stronger debut than the norm for the era. Ten of the 12 cuts are Ron Elliott originals, including the hits "Laugh Laugh," "Still in Love with You Baby," and "Just a Little." The hard-rocking numbers are the weakest, but "Stick Like Glue" and "I Would Be Happy" are fine Beatlesque numbers, and "They'll Make You Cry" is a first-rate moody folk-rocker. The CD reissue adds two bonus tracks, a demo of "Just a Little" and the single "Good Time Music."

Customer Reviews

Some of the best vocals in the history of rock and roll!

They sound as good today as they did 40 some odd years ago. I enjoy the vocals today as much as I enjoyed them in the 60s.

Oldies

Awesome album. The oldies are still the best. There isn't music like this anymore. glad it's still alive on iTunes.

Great CD!

I bought this CD a few years ago, but I picked up the import on Repertoire Records. Awesome sound and it contains 24 tracks - highly recommended. Sal Valentino is the main singer but all of the band members have lead vocals. On these 12 tracks, Ron Meagher is lead on tracks 8 & 12, John Petersen on track 9 and Declan Mulligan on tracks 5 and 10. And if you enjoy it as much as I do, you're sure to like their second album, "Volume 2".

They were the first U.S. unit of any sort to successfully respond to the British Invasion. They were arguably the first folk-rock group, even predating the Byrds, and also anticipated some key elements of the San Francisco psychedelic sound with their soaring harmonies and exuberant melodies....
