Introducing Seasick Steve
Considering his photograph, the fact that he is being 'introduced' at this age is both wonderful and a huge disappointment. He certainly is new to me and I wish I had found out about him earlier, that's the only disappointment. Tough to nail his style of music other than a healthy dose of slide blues however he is one of the few artists that can slide just as perfectly on an acoustic as he can when he is plugged in. Hypnotic stomp beats that keep the song flowing like a crazed mantra he seems to be reminiscent of R.L. Burnside when he had his groove on and a resonator slide that Chris Whitley (RIP) had nailed as well.
Mr. Steve doesn't need to have a band in his pocket, and he doesn't need a drum to keep the waves coming and his minimalist style can hopefully keep this style alive for generations to come. Take note kids, this is how it's done. Thanks for letting me find you Steve, and if Seasickness is what keeps you going then I hope you never discover Dramamine. Nice!
