Album Review
After a couple years of relentless touring in support of their self-titled breakthrough album, Slipknot regrouped to record Iowa, an ode to their home state that consolidates and punctuates everything that had garnered the band its cultish following. The monstrous guitar crunch, the concrete-dense rhythmic foundation, the frenzied singing, and the overall madcap fashion of it all — Slipknot's trademark sound is very much at the forefront of this dark, dark album and is presented in epic form on the extended, album-closing title track, which brings to mind Children of the Corn-type terrors. Though not quite as commercially viable as the more straightforward Slipknot album, Iowa is a more interesting listen, one that envelopes you in its American Gothic shadow and leaves you feeling unsettled afterward. It's really all you could ask for in a Slipknot album, and then some — perhaps some more than you'd like, in fact, if you're not part of the cult.

.......
haha, I`m a 12 year old girl and I love Slipknot. Call me a poser if it makes you feel like a bigger fan. If someone`s using a quote "bad word" then its probably because they`re emotional [not as in emo, as in feeling an emotion]. Most people critisize bands like Slipknot because they dont understand them. Theres nothing wrong with swearing if youre using it to show your emotions. I think thats healthy. Its a way of expressing how you feel. And also, if you were a real fan you wouldnt not listen to the band because your parents dont approve. I understand that parents can be strict, but still. Are you afraid they`ll take away your XBox? I know I might sound like a hypocrite, but whatever. I just thought I should say that.
A Horrifying Masterpiece
A broad range of music catches my attention. Everything from Rachmaninoff to Burt Bacharach will appear when iTunes is in shuffle. Most people who share my love for music also think that Slipknot is a waste of time. But I think if Iowa proves one thing, it is that Slipknot has musical ideas worth hearing. With the opening onslaught of sound on "People=S**t" it is clear that the record is eager to cut loose. Joey Jordison nearly loses control of his demonic double bass drum and Corey Taylor voices is just a hair short of sanity. Still, as the whipping propulsion of the song brings forth a horrifying chaos of screaming guitar, haunting effects, and galloping drums, it becomes apparent that the album is headed somewhere. It takes an uncommon patience to appreciate the music on this second disc from Slipknot, and it is almost doomed by the uncommonly dark theme of the song. But if you hear past the hellish thundercloud of anger, you will discover a band that, angry though they may be, are not foreign to the ability of composing uniquely defining music.
Slipknot
This is just another testament to the downright amazingness of Slipknot. There shouldn't be an edited version, if you don't like their language, then you don't like Slipknot, so don't buy their freakin albums!!!
