iTunes Review

“I had to wait until I reached manhood to commit a crime — according to the court of love, if there is such a court.” Isaac Hayes kept his good thing going on The Isaac Hayes Movement, the follow-up to his breakthrough Hot Buttered Soul. It offers more big, lengthy arrangements of recent pop and soul material, not to mention further inimitable Ike raps. (The quote above is from his version of Jerry Butler’s hit “I Stand Accused.”) This is makeout music that refuses to take a place in the background, and not just because of what-the-heck? moments such as the violin soloist on “Something,” which also inserts “You can’t make me” as an addendum to the lyric “I don’t wanna leave her now.”

This is one of Black Moses' finest!!

Everytime I heard "I Stand Accused", it takes me back to a road trip I took with my dad at 5. I've love this album, "Joy", "Black Moses", and "Hot Buttered Soul" ever since. Thank you Brother Ike, you are loved and missed deeply. Peace & Blessings.

I Stand Accused

I was in the teen age years when this song came out. I remember it was a time when guys had to have a rap if he wanted to get a girl. So he would study "I Stand Accused" as though it was primer in "rapology 101". I've grown up since then but I can still remember the enjoyment I had listening to the Rap professor-Issac Hayes.

jal

I came home one day and my dad was asleep on the couch, with this album on the turntable, it was finished playing, and the stylus was going chik chik chik so i sat down and started it again. It touch me deeply.I will never forget.
