iTunes Review
Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine proves that nice guys can be soul men on his band’s second studio album, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long. His ability to slink, tease and testify without descending into false swagger is little short of amazing. Of course, his affable charm was a major reason why tunes like “This Love” and “She Will Be Loved” became ubiquitous hits, but this album demonstrates Maroon 5’s real strength: clever yet sincere songwriting. Nearly every track here is a potential single, driven by sinuous rhythms and flashing flawless hooks. Memphis R&B is a key reference point — “Back At Your Door,””Makes Me Wonder, “Kiwi” and similar tracks carry the erotic kick of vintage Al Green. There’s an ‘80s funk-pop vibe evident as well, heard in “If I Never See Your Face Again” and “Can’t Stop,” and “Won’t Go Home Without You” adds a little melodic rock for balance. Levine remains a persuasive vocalist throughout, whether he comes across as beseeching (“Little of Your Time”) or anxious (“Nothing Lasts Forever”). His sincere brand of suavity — along with his band’s finely-honed musical thrust — put It Won’t Soon Before Long across beautifully.

Solid effort, don't doubt the lasting value of this LP.
Five years was a long wait but they didn't rush things for a reason. They gave it time and about perfected this soul-pop sophmore album. The first song is already qualified as a "long time fav" in my book. As much as "Makes Me Wonder" has gotten radio play, I don't feel like it's burnt out yet. The third and fourth tracks get you into that dirty pop Maroon 5 feel that we so crave. "Won't Go Home Without You" is a back to basics, simple song. It's comforting lyrics are nailed with Levine's earnest enunciation's, accompanied by a tight, refined melody. Next song sends you to the clouds with it's heavenly guitar runs entwined with Adam's bittersweet lyrics. Then we return to earth with "Can't Stop" and that familiar Maroon 5 sound that we can't stop itching for. "Goodnight Goodnight" has a nostalgic vibe that is similar to the likes of "She Will Be Loved". And the ride keeps movin' along smoothly 'til a change of tone with "Kiwi". This song impressed me with classy backgrounds including slick horn riffs, neat electronic sounds, subtle bongo rhythms, and a guitar shreddin' finish. "Better That We Break" suggests a farewell gently expressed by Adam's often frictionless voice. The official last song in this LP, "Back At Your Door", has a nicely orchestrated background reminiscent of a few old soul ballads. Maroon 5 executes on this album and rewards us with some quality, replayable material! The tunes aren't overbearing as I sometimes fear when greatly anticipated albums are released. Each song shines because sharp production always prevails.
Probably the Best Album of The Year!!!!!
Maroon 5's new sound is amazing. Taking styles from music's greatest (Prince, Michael Jackson and Queen for example) is shown in my songs like "Figure it Out" and "Kiwi". But, at the same time, keeping the old classic sounds of Maroon 5 that we saw in "Songs About Jane" with "Won't Go Home Without You", "Wake Up Call" and the best melow song of the ablum, "Better That We Break". The only downfall of the ablum is that "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" doesn't have the same organization with the "relationship" theme shown in their first album. But, with the damn near greatest of this album, you'll barely notice it.
