A holiday gem!
This terrific new Christmas album from accomplished accordionist Manny Corallo is more than just an accordion album, or just another Christmas recording. It contains 15 great selections of both popular favorites and traditional carols, freshly arranged by Corallo and featuring his expert accordion playing, backed by a full orchestra. The accordion receives star billing but does not dominate these recordings -- the arrangements are the real star, setting a range of moods. Highlights include the opening number, an upbeat big-band version of "Winter Wonderland"; a spirited Latin "Feliz Navidad", the wonderful waltz ballad "Christmas Time Is Here", and wonderful treatment of favorite sacred tunes such as "Hark, The Herald Angels Sing" and "Silent Night". This album could be the perfect accompaniment for your next holiday party, and will likely become a holiday tradition in years to come!
A Great Stocking Stuffer
With "It's an Accordion Christmas," Manny Corallo and His Orchestra present a fabulous mix of yuletide favorites. In all songs, the accordion is artistically balanced with rich orchestration, and arrangements include both big band jazz accordion and traditional Christmas carol styles. Play the traditional favorites to put the kids to bed, prior to Santa's arrival, and wake them up on Christmas morning with the jazzy cuts. This album is a great addition to your Christmas collection.
It's An Accordion Christmas
I wouldn't be surprised if one of those producers on the Lifetime or Hallmark Channel didn't call up Manny Corallo to buy the rights to some of his Christmas arrangements. I point out the two channels because my wife watches every single Christmas movie they offer. Manny's "It's an Accordion Christmas" is special because the accordion takes the lead in front of a full orchestra. Corallo is an excellent composer and arranger who supplied his own full sections of horns, strings, etc. that few regular accordion players could ever hope to replicate. You get the full range from simple, haunting melodies to exciting jazz riffs. This is the album to play during Christmas dinner with the family...and certainly while decorating your tree.
