Best known for his title role on the Nickelodeon TV show Drake & Josh, actor/singer Drake Bell reveals a knack for charming, well-crafted pop tunes on his 2006 major-label debut, It's Only Time. Clearly a devoted Beatles acolyte, Bell offers up a set of tunes that (surprisingly, for a tween-focused pop celebrity) largely rejects slick modern production in favor of a vintage sound inspired by Abbey Road Studio, as best revealed on the sunny, shimmering "I Know" and the jaunty, piano-driven "Fool the World."

Although the album is not quite as diverse as compared to last years Telegraph, Drake continues to wow the audience, this time finding a sound that is consistent throughout the cd. He should not be regarded as a "nickelodeon star" who's trying to steal a record deal because he's famous but rather a talented musician primarily. That's how I viewed him growing up. Saying that, I had no real problems with his latest work but I must admit in my opinion his single "I Know" was one of the weaker songs of the album. Not saying that it is a bad song, it's actually very good. It was only after reading several reviews that I was disappointed that most people failed to mention or resented the epic piece nearing the end of It's Only Time. Totaling over eight minutes Fallen For You, Rusted Silhouette, and Break Me Down are a series of songs that are intertwined in an overall beautiful medley. The transitions between each song are so perfectly written without straying away from a similar sound. During Break Me Down is a reiteration of the two previous songs with mixed melodies, making the song more intense as it builds up to the finale. Just listen to it the whole way through, it's amazing. What I love about Drakes voice is that he is able to utilize different vocal ranges, at some points singing in falsetto, which for most men is difficult to do as well as he does. Overall, this album is very consistent with it's happy upbeat guitar/piano melodies and blazing orchestra. It has no lulls which keeps it interesting the entire listen through. I only wish it was longer or had more songs.

how good is THIS?

Drake Bell's new CD is only the most musically tasteful and tuneful record I have heard in a long time. The songs are amazing, and really catchy, though a lot of them sound like one another. But that's okay. Drake is such a talented singer, songwriter, and actor, and he's only twenty! Seriously, though, what up with the beard and 'stache?
