A must buy that will soothe your heart & soul.
I just saw this artist, Angela Johnson, perform live at the legendary jazz club, Blues Alley in Georgetown (Wash., DC), with a live band. She's a masterful pianoist, vocalist, and her lyrics not only strike a chord, but gave me hope also for several personal reasons. That is a true talent of a songwriter.
Her voice dances along the octaves, and is in perfect harmony with her incredibly talented band, as well as her backup singers, who both are talented solo performers (Deborah Bond & Kenny Wesley). They performed the songs from the album, as well as an amazing cover of Teena Marie's classic Quiet Storm jam "I've Been Here Before" which I will personally campaign for them to record and make available.
This album will take you back in time when the legendary Melvin Lindsey (R.I.P.) hosted the Quiet Storm. Your heart will be soothed, and your soul refreshed.
I often by artist's albums to show support, but in this case, it's purely for selfish reasons... the music is amazing.
