Customer Reviews
Oh, New Order...
Despite some people's very ignorant claims, there is absolutely nothing wrong with these guys playing Joy Division songs. After all, they're 3/4s of the people responsible for the original songs, and it's not their fault that Ian Curtis's life was so overwhelming he had no choice but to off himself. In fact, they may be the only band that I think has any right to even touch Love Will Tear Us Apart. It's a decent version with Sumner on vocals, and puts that horrid atrocity that Fall Out Boy did to shame. Unless Ian Curtis was a pretentious, egotistic hack, I'm sure he isn't "rolling in his grave", but applauding his comrades for the great job they did. That being said, this album is a nice little treat, and possibly the last we will ever see of New Order. But to say it's a slap in the face of Ian Curtis and that he'd be offended is quite possibly the most ignorant thing you could say, and i'd assume you're some confused, elitist, "I'm a non-conformists who non-conforms by acting just like all of my friends" type. Buy this, love it. Oh, and this is all coming from a very rabid, die hard Joy Division fan who's gone out of his way to collect everything recorded by Joy Division. RIP Curtis, and I hope the biopic on you does your legacy justice.
Bernard shouldn't sing on songs he helped write?
This is in response to that moron who thinks New Order shouldn't perform any Joy Division songs. Get a clue! They have every right-especially since they wrote those songs together with Ian. Ian Curtis is dead. Do you suggest they dig him up and prop him up in front of a microphone? They're paying tribute to their deceased friend when doing those songs. I guess Phil Collns shouldn't have sung any old Genesis songs after Peter Gabriel left that band either.
Great surprise
Six newly recorded versions of New Order classics, plus some informative interviews regarding the songs make this a must for any New Order fan...thank you iTunes! I hope NO has more songs to record in the future. The new recording of Love Will Tear us Apart is especially interesting.
