Buyer Beware! Not the band's fault, but...

I love Tears For Fears. They are one of my favorite bands, so this is not a knock on them as artists. It's just that the SOUND QUALITY on this iTunes Original is the worst I've heard on any professionally released compilation/special like this. They should not even be giving this stuff away for free, much less charging ten bucks for it! Sorry, iTunes, you have dropped the ball. Let me be clear: All the studio tracks on this comp. are GREAT! But I'd look into one of their remastered greatest hits packages (Shout! is great for a full overview of their singles history, and the Millenium Collection really isn't bad for what it is) first before this.

I love Tears for Fears but.....

These recordings sound awful. It's as if someone set up a boom box in the middle of the room and pressed record. It's a real shame because I think Everybody Loves a Happy Ending is without doubt their best record, and its looking like they might not make more. So, to have such a substandard recording of them live is a real dissapointment. But...what else you gonna do?

Avoid the iTunes Original version of these tunes!

This "iTunes Original Recording" has to be one of the worst 'professional' recordings I've ever heard. Somebody went completely overboard with a compressor and paid no attention whatsoever to the headroom and distortion, thus creating an unusable recording. A couple of the untouched originals are OK but the items tagged as "iTunes Originals Version" are a waste of disk space and of your $.99. Simply preview "Everybody Wants to Rule the World (iTunes Originals Version)" to see what I mean. Sorry, iTunes. Love your service but someone needs to keep an eye (and ear) on the quality!

From the beginning, the duo of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith were tackling big subjects — their very name derived from Arthur Janov's primal scream therapy, and his theories were evident throughout their debut, The Hurting. Driven by catchy, infectious synth pop, The Hurting became a big hit in their native England, setting the stage for international stardom with their second album, 1985's Songs From the Big Chair....
