iTunes Review

Trisha Yearwood has often hit the high end of the country charts with bouncy odes to her fellow females (“She’s in Love With the Boy,” “XXX’s and OOO’s (An American Girl)”). That’s hardly all there is to her musical personality, though, as Jasper County reminds us. One of her most well-rounded collections, it pulls together a wide range of styles into a cohesive portrait of a mature artist. “Baby Don’t You Let Go” sounds like something played on a back porch on a July evening, while “Pistol” is a roadhouse rocker with a growling electric guitar. “Who Invented the Wheel” is a tension-filled plaint (and an album highlight), while “Georgia Rain” and “Trying to Love You” are dramatic radio-ready ballads. Yearwood is stretching her muscles here – “Standing Out in a Crowd” makes her assurance explicit – and it’s easy to hear just how good it feels.

Standing Out In a Crowd is a fabulous song that has a great meaning and probably would help plenty of young people who feel as though they dont fit in at school or just on the eye of the public. I think that this is a wonderful album and i disagree with the people who say that this was a bad move on trisha's behalf!

Good album.

I don't know why iTunes removed the Trisha/Garth duet. I bought it last year as a single song download from iTunes. Now, I'm reading all of these reviews about how it's missing.

I will say that this album is great. I am FLOORED by her rendition of "Who Invented the Wheel." FLOORED. That song alone is worth the price of the full album. "Trying to Love You," "Pistol" and "The Good Stuff" are all great tracks as well.
