An excellent album that captures the energy of the live performances. Back to Basics is a great track that features the entire orchestra.

BRILLIANT! EXCITING!! SOME INCREDIBLE SOLOS!!
I've only heard (and bought from iTunes) one song- "Things To Come". I heard this performance ten years ago on an LA jazz station: blew my mind and was I happy my cassette player was recording it!! The radio station announcer was raving about Jon Faddis' trumpet solo and I have to agree. It's possibly the best solo Faddis has ever played in a career of gigantic solos. Just the 'faddis-spheric" high notes above double high "C" alone are magnificent. Since then I have played it over and over at home and in the car and my reaction is still: WOW !! Great solo, great orchestra, great arrangement. Not to be missed, jazz fans. SIX STARS for "Things to Come"!!
