Customer Reviews
Excellent
Let me start off by saying that I prefer this version over the 1973 movie MUCH more. Why? Although many may disagree with me, I think this version is more instrumental and the voices are stronger. Some people don't like Jerome Pradon's singing voice [Judas] because they consider it too "whiny". For me, it worked because his character was being emotionally torn. I also love Glenn Carter's[Jesus] voice. It IS less rock and roll compared to Ted Neely's voice, but then again I found Neely's voice monotone. Renee Castle did a wonderful job as Mary Magdeline. I find her voice soft and soothing. Again, I prefer it over the other woman who portrayed Mary in the original. So while some people may say that the voices sound strained sometimes, bear in mind that the actors in this movie are actually acting, whereas the ones in the 1973 movie remain expressionless.
Where's the first Pharisee song???
This recording is fine.... but where's the song in between Mary's "Everything's Alright" and the crowd's "Hosanna"??? That's one of my favorite songs, and it introduces the Christ's main antagonists in the show. Very disappointed.
well...
I DO like this version, its not 'bad' but the album is missing two songs, one I know is in it (this jesus must die) and one I'm not sure of (then we are decided) Its like they hate Caiaphas and Annas or something
