Album Review
The packaging of Collaborations leaves the false impression that the disc could be a new Jill Scott album. For instance, "Daydreamin'" is listed on the back as "featuring Lupe Fiasco" when it should really be credited to Fiasco featuring Scott — it originated on Fiasco's Food and Liquor album. So, Collaborations actually rounds up many of the guest appearances Scott has made on other artists' songs throughout the past several years, and it's more like a stopgap release — like the live album that followed her debut — between her second and third studio albums. This could be irritating for the fans who tracked down each of the 14 sources from which the disc pulls, but it's certainly more helpful than not, and the material isn't so diverse that the whole thing can't be considered an alternate Scott album with almost as much value as Who Is Jill Scott? or Beautifully Human. There's a reason why these artists (or, in some cases, the artists' handlers) sought Scott out. Her versatile voice always carries a confident serenity, and she never shows up just to collect a check. One very unfortunate omission: 4hero's "Another Day." [A sampler from the Hidden Beach label is thrown in for extra value.]

Know Jill already? Buy Song. Don't? Buy Album
What can u say about a vocalist like Jill Scott? She makes you glad God made ears! This collection makes you want more. I mean that in both ways- yes you want more songs and yes you want better songs. Oh the collection has its high points. ‘Sometimes I Wonder’ the duet with Darius Rucker is just plain hot. Unfortunately I already had Darius’ disc like 5 years ago. The 'Love Rain' mixes are funky and everything but I got them on 'Who is Jill Scott' when she dropped it in the 90's. Get the point? If you haven’t already been following this diva, this collection is great. If you have, then some of the material you may have already heard. I don’t know how much of this stuff is new- as in recorded recently- but I found some grooves that were new to me. Worth a look 4sho.
Best Cup of Blended Sounds
It is the best cup of blended sounds I have heard in a long time.. With Ms. Jill as the base and the creamer of your choice being: Bailal, Chris Botti, Jeff Bradshaw, Common, Mos Def, Kirk Franklin, Lupe Fiasco, The " Isley Brothers", Sergio Mendes, & Eric Roberson set back and sip your worries away....Thank you Ms. Jill for doing it again!
A Classic album for the collection!!!
If you like music, or especially if you claim you LOVE music, you will definately buy Jill Scott Collaborations! The diverse range of artists that are featured on this album make it the one album that you can play anywhere. If you love Hip Hop, you will dig the Daydreamin' with Lupe Fiasco or The Rain with Will Smith. If you are a Jazz lover, you will LOVE God Bless The Child with Al Jarreau and George Benson, which I believe is up for a Grammy this year, or Good Morning Heartache, which also is up for a Grammy as well. All around this album is a definate must have. Do yourself a favor and pick up a pre release copy. Im going to buy one when it comes out in stores too!
