A brilliant return
Not since Kate Bush's long hiatus between The Red Shoes and Aerial have I waited so impatiently for a new album from one of my favorite divas. Vanessa Daou does not disappoint on Joe Sent Me. The smokey, sensual voice is better than ever and the mixture of jazz, pop and poetry is exquisite. Like the score to a lost French New Wave film, Daou's sound is cinematic and haunting, while continuing to push boundaries. If you loved Zipless and Make You Love, do not delay in downloading Joe Sent Me. Standouts are "Black & White," "Hurricanes," "The Hook," "Love Lives in the Dark" and the elegant "Heart of Wax." One of the most exciting returns in years! Brava, V.
Vanessa Daou Sends Us
Those years spent in a biosphere and in South American jungles hunting butterflies evidently inspired Vanessa Daou into creating a meditative, lovely expression of heartfelt jazz and song in Joe Sent Me. She has re-arrived to us with eternal style and class, and we are better off for it.

I was disappointed by this outing, Its only my opinion, but she really needed Peter Daous' input. I found the music bland and mono tone. I hope the re-mixes give life, and that air of naughty whisper to her sensuous voice.
