Awesome

This man is a Creole superhero -- fierce, proud, angry and omnitalented. He speaks the truth about post-Katrina New Orleans in a soulful prosody like you've never heard before. Satchmo meets Sam Cooke meets Marvin Gaye. And he's really funny. If you care about this crazy/beautiful city, you'll want to own this amazing man's grooves.

Incredible Music

I just came back from the Lake Eden Arts Festival, where I was lucky enough to see John Boutte give two concerts. It was a great festival, but Boutte was without a doubt the most inspiring artist there. His voice is so beautiful; it's soft and intelligent but raw and jazzy at the same time. This live album is a great representation of his concerts - give it a try!

A Real Taste of New Orleans

Seeing John Boutte' is a MUST at Jazz Fest. His version of Louisiana 1927 is the most heart wrenching, moving version of that song ever done!! Didn't It Rain, moves you to swing your arms overhead and makes you feel as if you've gone to a revival meeting! His rendition of City of New Orleans surely has Steve Goodman smiling from ear to ear somewhere in the heavens. It's a real mixture of New Orleans Jazz, New Orleans Pop, and New Orleans Soul!

It wasn't until he met Stevie Wonder and the superstar told him he had a definite shot at making it as a singer,...
