A great "production" around snippets of an interview

I seldom write reviews but wanted to capture some thoughts for those considering this purchase. I bought it on day one without hesitation. I was hoping for more of a full 'interview' session and less of a production. This takes clips from his last interview and weaves it into songs and reflections about his life/career well beyond the last days. It's more of a "Lennon" documentary then a raw audio capture of an entire interview. As a Lennon fan and owner of several documentary movies, I found this something that the casual or dedicated fan might enjoy and it certainly captures and conveys the raw feelings and tragedy surrounding the senseless murder of a man just hours after being captured reflecting on how much he looks forward to the artistic years ahead of him. I recommend this, but also suggest that those interested seek out his 12/08/70 Rolling Stone interview on the web, and also buy or rent "Imagine" and "Classic Albums - Plastic Ono Band".

A beautiful tribute to a great man

A captivating and emotional reflection on the last interview conducted with John Lennon, just hours before be was senselessly gunned down in from of his home. This is the radio show which was broadcast around the world on the 30th anniversary of John's death. Contains clips from the interview, woven amongst Bealtes/Lennon tunes, and audio commentary from the team who conducted this historical interview. Two hours of high-listenable production, obviously done with great care and love for this musical icon. As a life-long Beatles fan, this is one of the most polished works I have ever hear and am proud to own it.

my review

Although I liked the overall quality of the interview, I would have liked more of the interview. This is more of a documentary than an interview. I would love to hear the full interview.

Biography

Born: October 9, 1940 in Liverpool, England

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s

Out of all the Beatles, John Lennon had the most interesting — and frustrating — solo career. Lennon was capable of inspired, brutally honest confessional songwriting and melodic songcraft; he also had a tendency to rest on his laurels, churning out straight-ahead rock & roll without much care. But the extremes, both in his music and his life, were what made him fascinating. Where Paul McCartney was content to be a rock star, Lennon dabbled in everything from revolutionary politics...
