Excellent set of Electro-Funk & Soul
I guess the best way to describe this set from Erik Rico is as follows: Erik's set is a blend of Brilliant original lyrics set to music that is obviously influenced by 70's & early 80's iconic keyboard groovers like Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Billy Preston, Bernie Worrell, Chris Jasper, Joe Zawinul & even a little Prince/Jimmy Jam & Sly Stone thrown in for good measure. I discovered this brother's music on Myspace & was waiting for this to come out. As a musician I can appreciate the way Eric uses synth sounds to their own effect-Kudos for choosing not to use Sampled "Guitars", etc...-Erik manages to paint a sweet, musical, Organic sounding record, more Retro-Electronic sounding & warmer than Techno...Y'all won't be disappointed by this Download....It's not a Ground-breaking debut but it is different by today's musical standards while heavily borrowing from the past. Good Job!!!
Talented, Fresh, Up and Coming !!!!
Very refreshing work. This artist showcases a wide range of writing, production and musicianship. Shows roots from the early 60's and 70's and even 80's funk. Very nice arrangements and melodic musical overtones with hiphop undertones. Funky fresh and I would definitely recommend this cat.
GREAT Artist and a new fan
I never heard of Erik before a friend introduced me to his music. I was hooked. He has different sound reminisce of other great artist but a style that is all his.. I can not stop playing this album, and look forward to seeing his new release up on Itunes ASAP..
