iTunes Review

The track “Journey’s End” appears on the album of the same name (also known as All My Bad Thoughts) and it’s a wonderful epic from Roger Quigley and Mark Tranmer that’s everything the duo represent on albums such as Seventeen Stars and The World Is Flat. There is a monochromatic feel to their music. It trends towards the calm solitude of New Age with thornier issues and minimalist tendencies underlying the instrumental beauty of the non-LP instrumental, “Bridestones Revisited.” Two versions of “Koffee Pot” are here. One, “Koffee Pot Blues,” is not a blues, but an extended workout with extra atmospheric keyboard lines introducing the tune, while “Koffee Pot Brass” is exactly that: the tune delivered with an extra brass arrangement. The EP makes for a terrific sampler, all the best to determine if this obscure band from the U.K., who have been likened to 4AD bands and Michael Nyman in the past, play the kind of deep mystical music that can keep you engaged.
