iTunes Review

Although they've been around since the early 1980s, Canadian trio Anvil have remained largely unknown outside the relatively small circle of old-school metalheads. Often cited as an early influence on acts like Metallica, Anthrax, and Megadeth, they've put out 14 albums since 1981, but it wasn't until 2008, with the release of a great, Spinal Tap-esque documentary called Anvil! The Story of Anvil that they finally broke through to a larger audience. The film led to more shows, bigger festivals, and their first network television appearance on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brian. Despite their newfound fame, Anvil remain true to form on Juggernaut of Justice, delivering straight forward proto-thrash loaded with buzzsaw guitars, thunderous drums, and blistering vocals over the course of a dozen quality tracks. Don't miss "When All Hell Breaks Loose," "Turn It Up," and the supernatural vibe of "Paranormal."

same anvil

I just watched the movie and I must say I was a big fan of Anvil during Metal on Metal and Forged in Fire, but it's been the same ever since. Not bad, but not great. They wonder why they are not up there with the big 4? OK vocals, thin guitar, same double bass drums. Listen to the new Accept. That's got some teeth (even without UDO).

Just Buy it!!

Yes, Anvil flew under the radar when it came to buying music in the 80's. I remember seeing their stuff when i was looking for some Anthrax, but just passed it up. I had no idea who they were and was not prepared to spend what little money I had on something unknown. That being said, if they would have had just a little help, I would have been all over it. I have been slowly downloading their older material since the release of the movie.
Juggernaut of Justice is awesome! Paranormal is by far my favorite track, slow and evil! Show these guys some respect and buy this album, you will not be disappointed, I was not. Pure metal from start to finish!

ANVIL

I just watched the movie after a friend suggested it. I must say, these guys never, ever got a break but they kept on rockin' and that says alot. Some people say that they just keep remaking Metal on Metal and that may have some merit, but this is true metal and you can definitely hear the birth of many of our favorite metal bands in their music. For being in their fifties, I give the guys all the props. Keep rockin', ya old bastages!!

Toronto, Canada's Anvil were one of the first North American bands to push the sound and style of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal one step further. Clearly indebted to the likes of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and many others from across the Atlantic, Anvil nonetheless played louder, faster, and heavier than their heroes, in the process laying the groundwork for the thrash movement that took over heavy metal's underground in the '80s. Yet unlike many of the furious West Coast thrashers that immediately...
