Neglected gem... so many facets

This album is a gem (& apparently, a neglected one... the band's 1st new collection of studio material in over a decade, & not worthy of a review, iTunes? REALLY??), & like a beautiful gem, reveals many different facets as you turn it around by listening thru it's length. I purchased it w/ a Xmas gift-card, after listening to the samples & going: "Yeah! sounds good to me..." ; last nite, I finally got around to hearing it from end to end, & I was bowled over by the cornucopia of musical substance & stylistic range that is here to be heard. The Lovemongers was all very well as a way for Ann & Nancy to keep honing their chops (& echoes of that project are present, altho the acoustic aspect has always been an important element in their sound), but these ladies were born to ROCK... & they do so here, gloriously, as well as covering several other musical bases as only they can do. It sounds to me like much forethought & will to demonstrate ongoing relevance while remaining true to the band's legacy went into preparing for this relaunch, & for this long-time fan, the results are highly pleasurable listening. I would recommend that any fans of the band, or even just of good, melodic rock music, give this a chance; I would bet that you find plenty to listen to over & over again. It's a bit early to call, given my love for other parts of their catalog... but this could end up being my favorite Heart album, to date! & that... speaks volumes.

The girls have their roots back!

I guess I'm biased, having been a Heart for for over 25 years, but this album is NOT great. What, you say? No, its not great at all, but it is a reflection to their roots. Just good ol' R&R. I've been listening to Heart and attending their concerts for over 25 years and, well, no band reflects the original music that made them. Not the Stones, not the Beatles, not Elvis. And F-ing yes, Heart belongs in that group. Heart set a bar to be crossed by Blondie, Joan Jett, the 4 Non Blonds and every female-led band since. The Heart sisters continue to inspire and rock 25 years later, and that's much more than can be claimed by a lot of the stupid punk, funk, rap, pop groups of today. Ann and Nancy, you gals rock. You always have and always will. Thanks for the music from a long, long time fan. If you two are still rockin with grey hair and in wheelchairs, I'll still listen!

Sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson are the creative spark behind Heart, a hard rock group who initially found success in the mid-'70s, only to reach greater heights after engineering a major comeback a decade later. The daughters of a Marine Corps captain, Ann (born June 19, 1950) and Nancy (born March 16, 1954) grew up in both Southern California and Taiwan before the Wilson family settled in Seattle, WA. Throughout their formative years, both were interested in folk and pop music; while Ann never took...
