A pleasent surprise
I have to say, when I bought this album, I wasn't expecting much. I had $5 left on a card, and saw this in the "Just for You" spot, and bought it because I was feeling spontaneous. When I listened to the first song, I was hooked. This album has a brilliant sound, some solid lyrics, and quite honestly, is the best use of $5 in a long time. I'm looking forward to more from Blackard, anyone who likes the mellow acoustic vibe should give him a try.
Mature New Artist
Drew Blackard's music is as unpretentious as it is engaging. I find his vocals on "Just a Day In Your Life" to be quite good, his lyrics are strong and oftentimes take ironic twists, and the tone is positive and refreshingly not cynical. I particularly like the stripped-down live performance of "Alright with Me." 5 Stars to a new artist with uncommon depth.
great folk-rock!
I wish I had this guy to serenade me in a backyard garden. Really perfect music for drinking wine outside late at night. Reminds me of the best music of Tom Petty, but also a little bit of rock groups from the 90's like Third Eye Blind (I can't really explain why), and then he adds his own unique modern romance to everything. Puts me in a happy trance...
