Let me introduce you to a most excellent collection of piano gem, JUST BETWEEN US from a gentleman who definitely knows his way around the keys. Phillip Brooks’ resume is impressive, starting in his Gospel music years with such names as Thomas Whitfield and Vanessa Bell Armstrong. Then it was composing music for Warner Bros. recording artist Guess at the request of Anita Baker’s producer, Mike Powell, and touring with both Mary J. Blige and the R&B group Silk Produced by Keith Sweat. In 2003 Phillip became Wayman Tisdale’s music director, and after three years with Wayman has moved forward with a solo Smooth Jazz career. So, a resume like that has to lead to an exceptional album like this… filled with romantic ballads and some old school jams as well. Seven originals and three tasty covers (“For the Love of You,” “Oh Happy Day” and Luther’s hit “Think About You”) create a fun and mellow soundtrack for a joyful summer and many seasons beyond. Phillip Brooks’ JUST BETWEEN US is a perfect illustration of what a delightful elixir results when sweet meets soulful. This one’s going to get some serious play time in my iPod! ~SCOTT O'BRIEN

This entire album is awesome and obviously a labor of love. Phil Brooks is certainly the next up and coming jazz artist and star. Keep up the great work Phil.
