iTunes Review

It’s easy for Carrie Underwood’s fans to feel like stakeholders in her career — they’ve watched her compete for their votes on American Idol, then seen her parley her success into country stardom. Millions root for her to continue her Cinderella story while some of course wonder if her magic will evaporate. They'll have to keep wondering. Carnival Ride (2007) is a satisfying and occasionally adventuresome follow-up to Underwood's debut Some Hearts. This effort is more country-slanted than her first outing, seasoned with twanging banjos and stomping tempos as well as a dash of down-home R&B. Underwood bears down and summons up an earthy growl for “Flat On The Floor” and “Last Name” (a drunk-at-the-alter ditty reminiscent of Alan Jackson’s “I Don’t Even Know Your Name”). She disses the guys (“The More Boys I Meet”), hits the road (“Get Out Of This Town”) and falls heedlessly in love (“Twisted”) without losing her wholesome (yet sassy) air. Her torchy side smolders in “I Know You Won’t.” Most crucially, the album’s standout ballad — “So Small” — allows her full-bodied voice to soar and shine. Overall, Carnival Ride reaffirms the hopes of Carrie’s faithful while solidifying her status as a front-rank Nashville talent.

Amazing

Carrie did so good on her sophomore album "Carnival Ride". Carrie talks about boy problems in "The More Boys I Meet," "Twisted," and the prequel to "Before He Cheats": "Last Name". Carrie has some heartbreaking songs like "Just a Dream" and my favorite song: "I Know You Won't." Carrie sings remarkably in wonderful ballads like "So Small," "I Told You So," and "Wheel of the World." Some fun, upbeat songs of Carrie's are "Flat On the Floor," "All-American Girl," and "Crazy Dreams." "Get Out of This Town" is an awesome song with a great beat. "You Won't Find This" is a beautiful and simple song. Overall, Carrie did awesome. A wonderful album.

First of, I have to say do not pay attention to Loviiin Monster ;D. Have you not heard of Alan Jackson? One of his most famous songs says something along the lines of "I don't even know her name"! I strongly feel that Carrie tries to recreate some of the greatest country artists best hits in her own contemporary way. So saying that Last Name is not good is just insane. And saying that just because she is a woman? Please. If she was a guy, you'd probably eat the song up.

Now then...this cd is one of my favorites. Not just because it's Carrie's either. Every song is different, and her vocals are amazing. Certain artists in "country" music today could take lessons from this girl (ahem...Taylor Swift!).

I strongly suggest buying this album. She's very close to getting Carnival Ride certified as 3x platinum. Help her out guys. If you can't buy the whole album, then some of the must haves to pick from are:

Flat on the Floor
All-American Girl
So Small
Just A Dream
Get Out of This Town
I Know You Won't
Last Name
& I Told You So
