iTunes Review

Ex-Byrd David Crosby, Buffalo Springfield veteran Stephen Stills, and Hollies stalwart Graham Nash began their recording partnership in 1969 as coequals, fusing their individual talents as singer/songwriters into a greater whole. The trio’s chemistry proved to be an unstable one, leading to numerous breakups and reformations over the decades. Seamless vocal harmonies may be their trademark, but as this best-of album shows, there are contrasts to be found in their collective efforts as well. Stills’ “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” “Carry On/Questions,” and “49 Bye Byes” catches their sound at its most expansive, placing CSN’s scintillating voices amidst intricate arrangements with folk, country and Latin undertones. Crosby adds a mystical element with dreamy tunes like “Guinnevere” and a political bent with angry rockers like “Long Time Gone.” As for Nash, he proves himself a master of wistful, sweet-toned pop with “Our House,” “Just a Song Before I Go,” and “Wasted On the Way.” Often imitated but never duplicated, Crosby, Stills and Nash remain the gold standard for fine-crafted, acoustic-centered pop/rock.

CSN Greatest Hits

by fmjjn

These songs are a must have for someone who wants to hear and feel the "Woodstock" generation at their best. The lyrics are to heard and felt and the songs are a testament to the times that made us (the 55 to 65 yearolds)
what we are. Many have lost those feelings now, and this album can somewhat ressurect those feelings. I think I will go light up a doobie and turn up the music real loud like I used to.

The digital remix of these songs is tragedy similar to the ruining of ZZ tops Tres Hombres. Whatever incompetent fanboy cranked up the Crosby completley destroyed the harmony on Helplessly Hoping.

They Just Don't Make Three Part Harmony Like This Anymore

by John Hamrick

These songs never cease to amaze me. Story telling, emotions, and perfect harmonys make this record an ageless treasure that eveyone will enjoy..over and over again. For some unkonwn reason the 60s & 70s produced artists that were magically coupled and provided us music that has become not only the soundtrack of a generation, but a soundtrack for many genteration, and many more to come.
