Electronic Industrial Metal

In their third LP release, Floridans Crossbreed have found a comfortable niche in modern heavy rock with the album KE 101. The band continues to blend heavy, industrial influenced metal music and powerful vocals with an electronic, synth driven edge. That isn't to say the band hasn't evolved some and the changes they've made have helped their music mature and pushed the band beyond being just another industrial metal knockoff. Gone are the early nineties pop metalisms. Parallels between the likes of Marilyn Manson and other glam rockers from the 20th century are much harder to draw. In their place has come a much tighter, more mature sound. Crossbreed continues to tie keyboard driven synths with heavy guitar riffs, though the keyboards are used less frequently on this album than its predecessor, Synthetic Division. The electronic elements feel more focused and when put to use lend kinetic energy and depth to songs like "Saints of Grey" and "Nothing." The opening track “Kill Everything” illuminates the tight production values of KE 101, blending the sample heavy intro into the opening riffs smoothly. Though comparisons can still be made to other metal artists, namely Static-X and White Zombie, Crossbreed have made an album that stands on its own. The industrial metal genre has become homogenized by an influx of bands looking to cash in on the current electronic music trends. Fortunately, Crossbreed stand out as competent masters of the craft and KE 101 is a testament to their musical talents. 4/5 Stars.

Split Indecision

This album has some great original material, yet the remakes feel over-thought. Saints of Grey, for example, used to be a powerhouse song that brought my stereo to its knees. Now it has an extra layer of, "Oh, I like that sound, put that somehwere!" Other than that, thanks for the killer new material!

Crossbreed Returns

Ive followed this band since thier debut release in 2001 Synthetic Division! Back then it was unlike anything ive ever heard before. Since then the passing years i have grown more rock/industrial and ive recommended crossbreed to everyone i know. After a few years i wasnt sure if they would return, but i'm glad they have. This album is definatly more focused and driven w that kickass unique industrial sound that made them from the start! All HAIL CrossBreed has returned!

Years Active: '00s

Streaming a disquieting fusion of industrial techno and alternative metal, Crossbreed delivers single sound amalgamations distinct by crude and blistering features. The band's first performances go back to 1996, but it was only three years later that they managed to stabilize their lineup. James Rietz (vocals), Chris Nemzek (guitar), Charlie Parker (bass), Travis Simpkins (drums), and keyboards masters Flip and DJ Izzo assured this Florida team set by 1999.
